…Of language & locations
Went to a nice hotel for a food related event. The waitress greeted in excellent English & body language.
Half way thru the entrance, I enquired..
"Where is the Ladies?"
The waitress pointed to a group of female.
"No. I mean the Ladies..."
Still pointed at the same direction.
"I mean the Toilet"
"Oooh toilet yeah. Over there!"
Then she turned to her manager, "Oh Ladies tu toilet yeah?" then we all laughed. English is such a funny language.
By the way, I used to think tht Klang Valley is a really a Valley in Klang.
So when ppl enquired if I lived in Klang Valley. I replied "No. I live in PJ!"
On place of birth, I wrote my the name of my Hospital.
Yup thru out primary school.
Funny, none of my teachers or the admin corrected me.
When I first started school, my teachers enquired about my adik beradik. Adik means "little sister/brother or younger siblings but adik beradik means siblings.
Thinking adik beradik means younger siblings back then
I used to reply "Tak ada adik. Ada 1 abang, 1 kakak" with the 1 finger signal.
Knowing that I was not too bright, my bro. used to tell me (repeatedly)
not to follow anyone who offer any candies or treats.
Since he always barked out in Chinese
"If someone offer any (a) sweet, a chocolate or even a toy DO NOT EVER follow OK!"
So one day he tested me "If the person offered 1 bag of candies. Would you follow?"
I thought it was a maths/IQ questions.. so I replied instantly "YES!!!"
My bro. instantly smacked himself & walked away. At that time, I thought because I had it right.
The sad part was, nobody told me the answers or reasons. Not knowing I was mentally slow. Life went on like normal.
Thinking back. I was a darn lucky lil.idiot.
